Orochi doesn't die in one strike. The Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model Yamata no Orochi, gives him eight serpent-dragon heads — and all eight have to be cut, one by one, to actually finish him off during the Fire Festival at Onigashima. Kaido himself takes the first, out of pure betrayal; the assembled Red Scabbards take six more in a single combined blow; Denjiro delivers the eighth and final cut, the one that finally ends the usurper's reign.

Head of the Kurozumi clan, he had Kozuki Oden assassinated twenty years earlier with Kaido's help to seize the title of shogun — and it's that same Kaido who, on the day of his downfall, chooses to betray him first rather than defend him, an exact measure of how much his own ally's life was ever worth to him. Kanjuro, the spy embedded inside the Kozuki household for two decades, is blood family to him, recruited and handed a fruit by his own circle — the one man Orochi ever trusted enough to plant among his enemies.

Nobody ever needed to post a bounty on a man who was already running an entire country: as shogun of a Wano sealed off from the rest of the world, Orochi never needed a wanted poster to rule, and his fall left no file anywhere outside it — only eight severed heads in front of witnesses.
