Bounty of Yamato – non-wanted character

There is no bounty on Yamato, and it is neither an oversight nor a mystery: the World Government has never laid eyes on him.

A bounty does measure power, but only the power someone has been allowed to witness. First you sink a convoy, burn a base, humiliate a vice admiral in front of witnesses. Kaido's child, who claims the name Kouzuki Oden, spent the last twenty years on Onigashima, inside a country affiliated with nothing, no embassy, no press, not one Marine on its soil, wearing explosive cuffs his father had fitted so that he could never cross the border. Nobody outside ever got the chance to put a price on his head.

The strength was measured once, and by a pirate. Four years ago Portgas D. Ace landed in Wano to kill Kaido, found Yamato instead while the Emperor was away, and fought him to a standstill: Yamato wounded him through Armament Haki, and Ace left saying he could not believe a fighter like that was not captaining his own crew. Ace was carrying 550 million. Yamato wanted to sail with him, the cuffs made it impossible, and he handed Ace a Vivre Card so the two could find each other again.

The rest of the record never left the island either: a Mythical Zoan, the Inu Inu no Mi, Model Okuchi no Makami, all three forms of Haki, and blows traded with Kaido at a point when three captains and two first mates together were barely marking him. The same border is why Kin'emon, Denjiro and Momonosuke carry no wanted poster at all.

None of which rules out a bounty later. He simply chose to walk Wano first, the way Oden did, and he has never given up on going to sea.
