Bounty of Absalom – credible but non-canon

Absalom spent the entire Thriller Bark arc invisible to anyone not already looking for him: the Suke Suke no Mi turns anything he touches transparent, clothes included, making him the only spy in the whole story who can cross a deck without casting a shadow behind him. As commander of the zombie soldiers under Gecko Moria, he uses that power to shadow the Thousand Sunny undetected — until the crew learns to sense his presence by other means than sight.

During the two-year timeskip he switches trades without switching tools: under the byline Absa, he becomes a journalist and sells the press a genuine scoop — that the Kid Pirates, the Hawkins Pirates and the On Air Pirates are quietly forming a three-way alliance — obtained, unsurprisingly, by listening in on conversations nobody realized were being monitored at all.

In the end the power costs him his life rather than serving it. The Blackbeard Pirates capture him on their own island, Hachinosu, and kill him specifically to take the fruit for themselves. The Suke Suke no Mi passes to Shiryu, a former Impel Down jailer now sheltering with Teach, who later turns it against Gecko Moria himself — Absalom's own former commander. None of these three consecutive lives of the same power ever produced a single line with Absalom's own name on it: invisibility protected his file for exactly as long as it protected his body.
