CONFIDENTIAL

Part of what this amount is charging him with happened while its holder was asleep. Cavendish shares his body with Hakuba, a second personality that takes over the moment he loses consciousness and kills everything within reach at a speed the eye cannot follow and Haki can barely track. Cavendish remembers none of it.

In the Rommel Kingdom nobody even looked for a human culprit. The deaths were put down to the Kamaitachi of Rommel, a wind that sliced people open, and the Marines sent to investigate became more of its victims. It took time before a name and a face were attached to any of it. Some Marines now know there are two personalities in there, and it changes nothing: there is one price, and it stands in the name of the one who falls asleep.

The rest of the biography does not encourage anyone to take him seriously, which is exactly the design. Cavendish was a prince of the Bourgeois Kingdom, driven out of his own country because its women all refused to marry anyone else, and he left with seventy-four followers and five hundred million berries. He sails with a horse called Farul, sleeps in public, and treats his own beauty as a strategic argument.

Underneath it there is a swordsman carrying a named blade, Durandal, and a problem very few captains have to manage. Hakuba cuts down allies as readily as enemies, so most of Cavendish's effort goes into holding back the half of himself that actually killed for this number.
