Porchemy’s Bounty at 3,400,000 Berries

Who closes a failed pirate's file, the law, or his own captain? For Porchemy, it's the second one. A member of Bluejam's crew hiding out in the hills above the Goa Kingdom, he interrogates and tortures a young Luffy, tied up and beaten for hours, trying to learn where Ace and Sabo and their hoarded treasure are, and loses, beaten by two children who refuse to break under the pain.

That defeat earns him no trial and no prison sentence. Bluejam, his own captain, executes him on the spot for the humiliation of losing to kids, without waiting for the Marines to get anywhere near the case or for any report to ever be filed. The bounty attached to him, three million four hundred thousand berries, closes on a killing carried out inside a single crew, before the World Government ever had a chance to step into what stays an entirely internal matter.

Nothing in this file ties Porchemy to any act against the Marines, or to a notable victim beyond two children whose real identities, the future commander of Whitebeard's second division, the future leader of the Revolutionary Army, nobody, including Porchemy himself, could have possibly guessed at the time. The number on his head measures one torturer among several serving a captain with no scruples; what the story actually remembers about him is that he lost to the two boys he had no way of knowing would become who they became.
