Bepo’s Bounty at 1,500 Berries

It starts with a vial, and the vial comes from Tony Tony Chopper. A mink normally enters Sulong by looking straight at a full moon, and that is the whole mechanism: a roof, a cloud, a pair of tinted glasses will stop the transformation dead. Chopper built Bepo something that removes the condition. The moon no longer gets a say.

That is what he swallowed on the island where the Blackbeard Pirates wrecked the Polar Tang and put the crew on the ground. Blackbeard had not yet decided what to do with Trafalgar Law's power when the bear came up in Sulong, in daylight, drove back an Emperor and several of his Titanic Captains, threw a boulder after them, then took his captain under one arm and left by sea. Polar bears are fast in water.

It was not his first save of the day. Shortly before, he had located Van Augur by ear, from the sound of the shot leaving the barrel, and ordered Jean Bart in front of Law: the bullet stopped there. His own crewmates rank him the second strongest aboard, behind Law and nobody else.

Sulong is not free, and the vial changes none of that. A mink who holds the form for a full night burns through his own life force and dies of it, and without training he loses his mind before that. So: three times the previous figure, on a navigator who pulled his captain out of a lost fight with an Emperor, and who would probably apologise for having cost so little.
