Jean Bart never received a Devil Fruit. In a crew whose captain cuts reality apart like paper, his strength stays entirely physical — two to three times Jinbe's build, able to break through a bridge with one punch. That raw power alone justifies his 100-million-berry bounty inside the Heart Pirates.

Before wearing that crew's name, Jean Bart was a pirate captain in his own right, enslaved at the Sabaody auction house after crossing paths with a Celestial Dragon, Saint Rosward. It's Trafalgar Law, still a Warlord at the time, who breaks his chains with the Ope Ope no Mi — the same fruit that will later bring Luffy back from the edge of death after Marineford. Jean Bart asks for nothing in return for that freedom; he signs on out of a debt he chooses to honor rather than a contract, and without a single line of dialogue ever spelling out the terms of it — he's one of the quietest members of the entire crew.

The contrast lies in that constant closeness to a power he'll never hold himself. He sails beside a surgeon capable of rearranging an entire body, and none of that capability ever rubs off on him: what the register prices in Jean Bart is muscle, not surgery. The only named Heart Pirate whose legend owes nothing to a Devil Fruit, inside a crew where almost everything else, down to the submarine they sail in, ultimately does.
