Jean Bart’s Bounty at 100 million Berries

Jean Bart was a pirate captain before he was a collector's item, and a well-known one: Trafalgar Law recognized him on sight outside the Sabaody auction house and called him by name, much to his surprise. Captured and sold to the Celestial Dragons, he belonged to Saint Rosward, who had him crawl on all fours as part of the family's Pirate Captain Collection.

That collection explains the number. Slavery under a Celestial Dragon freezes a bounty, and freedom brings it back automatically. Hatchan says as much about Devil Dias, a fellow captain in the collection worth 60 million: had he survived his exploding collar, he would have been arrested. For Jean Bart the rule runs the other way. The moment Law's Devil Fruit lifts the bomb collar off his neck, with Marines closing in on the building, he is a wanted pirate again. The manga never shows his poster or this figure, which reads as a floor. A hundred million is the line at which a pirate starts to matter in the first half of the Grand Line; Law, a Supernova at the time, stood at two hundred.

Law attaches no condition. He frees him, then invites him aboard, and Jean Bart accepts willingly; Law replies that half the thanks belong to Luffy, who started the incident. During the escape he brings down a bridge with one punch to cut off the pursuit, and Bepo reminds the newcomer that he ranks below him.

His raw strength soon earns its place on a surgeon's crew. At Marineford he catches the dying Luffy and Jinbe when Buggy drops them, before Law saves their lives inside the submarine. On Winner Island, warned by Bepo's hearing, he steps in front of his captain and takes Van Augur's bullet without a scratch. When the Polar Tang is destroyed, he goes down with it.
