Dorry’s Bounty at 100 million Berries

One hundred million, more than a century ago, on one of the two captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates. The crew was made up entirely of giants and ranked among the most feared afloat; Dorry was said to be a man nobody could bring down, and the world settled for posting a price.

The price predates the duel. A hundred and two years back he was coming home from a hunt with a Sea King he had killed when a little girl named Yuki asked which of the two monsters was bigger. Neither he nor Brogy would give ground, and in his village on Elbaf a quarrel nothing can settle is handed to the judgement of the gods, through combat. Dorry left to settle it on Little Garden and stayed there.

What the hundred million was worth can be measured by the men sent to collect it. Galdino, a Baroque Works officer who had already put down a pirate worth forty-two million, said plainly that he could not beat Dorry in a fight even with three agents helping him. He cheated for lack of an alternative.

Among the warriors of Elbaf, a wanted notice is not read as a threat. Falling with weapons in hand is a great honour and any other death a disgrace, and when Dorry strikes he calls on Elbaf's warrior code by name — Hakoku comes out of that, not out of his blade. A price set on him by the outside world is the outside world admitting it noticed, and that is in all likelihood how he took it. His crew waited for him on Elbaf. Two of his men, Oimo and Kashii, went looking after fifty years, were caught by the Marines, and spent fifty years of a promised hundred holding the gate at Enies Lobby, convinced their captains were prisoners.
