Trebol’s Bounty at 99 million Berries

Thirty-one years ago, on the North Blue islet of Downs, Trebol was eighteen and ran with a gang: Vergo, a fourteen-year-old Diamante, a nine-year-old Pica. They watched a ten-year-old boy flatten the mob that had come to lynch him without laying a hand on anyone — Conqueror's Haki. They gave themselves to him on the spot, and Trebol handed him two things: a Devil Fruit the gang had turned up, the Ito Ito no Mi, and a flintlock pistol, so the boy could take revenge on whoever he pleased.

The boy was Donquixote Doflamingo. He used the pistol on his own father at ten and carried the head to Mary Geoise hoping to be reinstated as a Celestial Dragon; he was turned away as the offspring of a family of traitors. The Warlord seat came twenty-one years later, and no Devil Fruit bought it: Doflamingo took it by robbing the World Nobles and blackmailing the World Government with a secret he had carried out of the Holy Land. Ninety-nine million berries price a Donquixote officer. Trebol had done the thing he is genuinely answerable for long before the Marines had a single act to charge him with.

At Dressrosa the man who came for him was not chasing the Family. Trafalgar Law wanted Doflamingo for Corazon, shot dead thirteen years earlier by his own brother. Trebol put himself in the way, boasted about having raised the boy, then lost his composure when Law called the elite officers puppets on strings. Law floated his own severed arm, still closed around Kikoku, and opened him up with it. Trebol set his mucus alight to take Law with him in the blast and only knocked himself unconscious. After Doflamingo went down, the Marines took him in alongside Diamante and Pica. The child he had watched walk into the crew at ten is the one who finished him.
