Caesar Clown’s Bounty at 300 million Berries

Caesar Clown came out of MADS, the illegal research team he shared with Vegapunk, Vinsmoke Judge and Scien, later known as Queen. Once the World Government absorbed most of them, he went back to work under Vegapunk on Punk Hazard, testing weapons and drugs on prisoners shipped in as test subjects.

The 300,000,000 berries date from the end of that arrangement, four years before the Straw Hats landed. Ordered to drop an outlawed weapon of mass murder, he refused; removed from the team by Vegapunk, he set it off. Two laboratories flattened, the whole island under poison gas, the scientists evacuated and the site sealed with the prisoners still inside. Arrested, he slipped away from the ship taking him to prison. His poster carries a bare M before his name, for Master: one of the few posters in the story to print a title.

He found his men among his victims. Returning a year later, he claimed to purify the island while compressing the gas into a creature, Smiley, built prosthetics for the paralyzed survivors and took them into his service, all of them convinced Vegapunk was to blame. Then came the children kidnapped to be grown into giants, whom the experiments would have killed within five years.

What followed ran through Doflamingo, who turned his SAD into SMILEs and sold them to Kaido. Beaten on Punk Hazard by Luffy, then worth 400,000,000, he became Law's hostage; at Green Bit, Doflamingo declared him a subordinate in front of Admiral Fujitora, who gave up on arresting him, a shield that fell with Doflamingo. He later passed from the Straw Hats to Capone Bege, who kept his heart and made him supply the cannons for the attempt on Big Mom before handing it back. He then founded NEO MADS with Judge, and flew into a rage during Vegapunk's worldwide broadcast: the man they meant to surpass was already dead.
