Pekoms’s Bounty at 330 million Berries

The record starts fifteen years ago, and not under Big Mom's flag. Pekoms, a lion mink out of Zou, sailed under Pedro with the Nox Pirates, explorers hunting a Poneglyph whose search drew the World Government's eye and earned the crew bounties. Worn down, he led everyone but Pedro and Zepo back ashore; the group drifted into Big Mom's waters and was taken in by the Emperor he has served ever since.

What 330 million buys gets demonstrated once, on Fish-Man Island. Caribou empties a Gatling gun into him at point-blank range; Pekoms withdraws into the Kame Kame no Mi shell, said to be as hard as diamond, takes the burst without a scratch, then steps out and drops a rookie worth 210 million with one Armament Haki punch, snapping his scythe in the same motion. Islanders who had found him more cute than frightening decide that an Emperor's fighter earns the title.

Inside the crew he is a combatant and a broker. Ten years after the Nox Pirates first sailed, Pedro and Zepo came back for the Poneglyph and were caught. Zepo died on the Emperor's roulette wheel; Pekoms, in tears, begged for the other, and Big Mom cut ten years off Pedro's sentence. The story never says what moved her.

The rank eventually turns on the flag that granted it. Sent back to Zou with Capone Bege on a mission as much his as the gangster's, he finds his island wrecked and his people alive because the Straw Hats treated them, and offers to drop it in exchange for Caesar Clown. Bege shoots him in the back for it. He still says nothing about Big Mom's plan against the Vinsmokes, and later refuses to join Bege's plot against her. Only Pedro's death moves him: he captures Brûlée himself, walks Luffy out of the Mirro-World, and goes Sulong on Cacao Island with nobody left alive to bring him down.
