Krieg’s WANTED poster with a reward of 17 million Berries.

Don Krieg had already crowned himself the strongest captain in East Blue before he'd even left the sea he was born in. Fifty ships, five thousand men — an armada built to force a way into the Grand Line and carve out an empire there. It came back as a single wrecked vessel, drifting, down to two starving survivors, Krieg and Gin, after a run-in with Dracule Mihawk that the story only ever confirms through that wreckage and its silence on what actually happened out there.
His bounty, seventeen million, isn't about that defeat — it covers what came before, the man who terrorized East Blue before going looking for someone stronger than him. At the Baratie he tries rebuilding his legend with what's left: battle armor rigged with MH5 gas, toxic enough to kill within the hour unprotected, so toxic he wears his own gold mask just to avoid breathing it. Luffy leaves him on the floor, beaten, and Mihawk closes the episode with a single sword strike that splits Krieg's next ship in half without even aiming at a man aboard it.
That looked like where the file ended, on a string of failures. It isn't: chapter 1117 shows him alive on Egghead, alongside Gin and Pearl, on a pirate island watching Vegapunk's broadcast go out live — the first proof, years after the Baratie, that he'd actually reached the New World he'd been chasing from the very start.
