Bounty of Elder Nyon (Gloriosa) – credible but non-canon

Gloriosa is the only Kuja known to have sailed under a flag other than her country's. Empress of Amazon Lily and captain of the Kuja Pirates forty-four years ago, she caught Love Sickness over Gol D. Roger, abdicated, left the island — and her own people wrote her off as a traitor. Two years later she signed on with the Rocks Pirates, as much to survive the illness as to see him again.

That crew was no faded memory. It was the terror of its era, the one outfit that ever threatened the World Government directly, and it took Roger and Garp together to break it. What vanished was not the danger but the paper trail. The government buried God Valley, covered up twenty-five of their crimes, and kept quiet that a vice admiral had fought alongside the Pirate King; Sengoku had to explain to a room of officers, decades on, who these people had even been. Whether Gloriosa was ever priced belongs to the same darkness — the story does not say, and nothing settles it either way.

She was there, though. When Shakuyaku, her former first mate, was taken and set up as the prize on God Valley, Gloriosa shipped out with the Rocks, went ashore, and raced her own crewmates through the streets to reach her first, wondering aloud whether saving her might finally earn a glance from Roger. She got off the island by climbing aboard Roger's ship.

Fifteen years before the present, on Sabaody, she recognised three little girls from her own country who had escaped Mary Joa after four years of slavery. She raised them. She now advises the one she raised, pardoned by Empress Tritoma on her return and never entirely forgiven.
