    CONFIDENTIAL

Guernika dies doing his job rather than fighting for his life. A masked CP0 agent trained in Tekkai, he's one of the operatives the Five Elders send to physically interrupt the Luffy-Kaido duel at Onigashima — an order that amounts, in practice, to stepping in front of an Emperor mid-battle to buy a few seconds. The order comes down exactly as the fight tips over: Luffy's Devil Fruit awakening starts overwhelming the Emperor, and that is the precise moment the Five Elders want stopped. He obeys without argument, simply tips his hat as Kaido turns on him, and dies from a single blow of the kanabo, executed by the very man he was sent to slow down.

What separates his file from the other agents who fall at Wano is the last thing he does before that blow lands: he takes a photograph of Luffy's awakening and sends it to the Government first. The mission outlives the man carrying it out by a fraction of a second.

No Cross Guild symbol has ever attached to his name, in keeping with a unit that never operates under its own banner and answers to a master it never names. But Guernika isn't one of those files left open for lack of information. His closes on something precise and dated: a direct order from the Five Elders themselves, and the photograph he found time to send before dying to deliver it.
