Vasco Shot’s Bounty at an unknown amount of Berries

Level 6 of Impel Down is where the World Government files the criminals it would rather nobody discussed, and even in there Vasco Shot stood out: his crimes were talked about among the inmates themselves as unusually brutal, by men who were hardly choirboys. That is the record his bounty prices, and it long predates the flag he sails under today.

The gourd roped to his back, marked with the character for liquor, is there in the very first images we get of him, back when he was still in prison stripes — he kept wearing them for years after his escape. The Gabu Gabu no Mi showed up much later. The story never says when he ate it, and Blackbeard's crew has been hunting Devil Fruits to arm its officers ever since its captain became an Emperor, so everything points to the power arriving well after the drinking habit. What it does is simple: he spits back out, on fire, whatever he has just swallowed.

He has been seen using it exactly once, during Garp's assault on Hachinosu, when he sprayed the vice admiral with burning alcohol and Garp shielded himself behind the pirates crowded around him. That same day says more about him than the flames do. With a prisoner loose on the island, his proposal is to set the town alight and cut off the escape route, and it is Avalo Pizarro who talks him out of it — not out of scruple, but because their captain would be furious about the damage. Nearly six meters tall, second in size only to San Juan Wolf, he commands the fleet's eighth ship. The amount has not been revealed yet; the story has never paused on him long enough for that.
