Scratchmen Apoo’s Bounty at 198 million Berries

The 198 million predate nearly everything Apoo is known for. They were earned crossing the Grand Line, before the On Air Pirates ever reached the Sabaody Archipelago, and they place him sixth among the eleven Supernovas who arrived there the same year. Apoo belongs to the Longarm Tribe, which shows in the second elbow on each of his arms.

At Sabaody he could have left; his crew begged him to. He wanted to watch an admiral work, and said out loud that Kizaru ought to be provoked before running. The opening comes as the admiral, having blinded Basil Hawkins, moves to finish him. A cymbal wave takes Borsalino's right arm off; a bass-drum beat struck on Apoo's own chest detonates at the waist, and the admiral comes apart in two pieces. None of the other captains on that street had so much as touched him. Hawkins survived it, whether or not that was what Apoo was after.

What the figure pays for is in that scene: a weapon that lands from a distance, by surprise, on opponents who have not met it yet. His whole body is an orchestra, and each instrument produces a sound that cuts, stuns or explodes. That it led nowhere that day is not a problem of reach but of target, since a Logia does not bleed. Kizaru pulled himself back together, caught him at light speed and put him through a building, which Apoo walked out of still conscious.

Earlier the same day he had picked a fight with Eustass Kid in an archipelago bar and then proposed postponing it to the New World. He knew exactly what an incident under the Marines' noses would cost him.
