CONFIDENTIAL

No figure has ever appeared beside Benn Beckman's name on the page. The poster itself has: an official databook reproduces his wanted notice with the amount blacked out. Inside the story that number is ordinary information, known to the Marines the way any Emperor officer's is. The blank belongs to the reader alone.

What it pays for is on record. During the timeskip the Red Hair Pirates ran into the Kid Pirates, and it was Beckman who took Eustass Kid's left forearm off him. The man he crippled that day has carried three billion berries since Wano. Years later at Elbaph, when word reaches the crew that the Kid Pirates are coming for them, it is Lucky Roux who reminds Beckman he knows perfectly well whose name that grudge has on it.

At Marineford he climbed a Marine ship's mast without Kizaru, an Observation Haki user, sensing him arrive, then held the admiral at gunpoint to keep him off Law's submarine. Kizaru, fresh from trading blows with Marco and with Whitebeard, chose not to engage. Beckman coats his rifle rounds in Armament Haki, which is how a flintlock keeps a Logia honest.

Then there is the half of him no poster could price. The databooks give him the highest IQ of any character introduced across the East Blue Saga, ahead of the master strategist Kuro and ahead of Nami. Decades as first mate have made him the man who asks the questions nobody else asks Shanks, and the only one aboard who will contradict his captain out loud: when Shanks promises Marco he would be no trouble to have around, Beckman says otherwise on the spot.
