    CONFIDENTIAL

Hyouzou sells his sword to the highest bidder while every one of his crewmates sells an ideology. Years earlier, he had turned down a recruitment offer from Arlong himself, simply because the price wasn't high enough. A blue-ringed octopus Fish-Man already famed as Fish-Man Island's best swordsman before he became Hody Jones's hired blade, he fights with six poisoned swords and drinks himself past the point of control, occasionally turning on his own allies. A mercenary with none of his captain's convictions, he fares no better in the registry than the true believers: Hody's revolt against Ryugu Kingdom was closed by local justice before any Marine case could ever be opened.

One of his blades is what wounds Luffy during the arc, though the poison never takes: Luffy has been immune since Impel Down. Against Zoro, by contrast, Hyouzou never lands a real threat — Zoro chats with Chopper through most of the exchange before shattering all six swords in a single stroke, dismissing him as not strong enough to be worth the boredom.

Arrested with the rest of the crew, he suffers the same violent aging from the Energy Steroids the moment Ryugu's guards take him in. The one man in the group who never shared his captain's cause, or Arlong's before him, ends up locked away exactly like the true believers — local justice made no distinction between conviction and hired steel.
