Laffitte’s Bounty at 42.2 million Berries

Before Blackbeard, Laffitte carried a badge: a West Blue sheriff, thrown off the force and exiled from his own sea for brutality his superiors eventually stopped covering. His epithet comes from that, not from any fight, since the story never shows him in one. What it shows instead is rarer. He walks straight through the Holy Land's security without being spotted and sits down in the middle of a meeting attended by Sengoku, the Marine top brass and three Warlords of the Sea, interrupting Dracule Mihawk to ask politely whether anyone minds him joining.

He has come to put his captain's name forward for the Warlord seat Crocodile has just lost. Tsuru recognizes him and tells the room about his record; Sengoku turns him down flat, since a nobody would frighten no one. Laffitte answers that they are aware of the problem and are working on it, then advises the room on his way out to remember the crew's name. It takes handing over Portgas D. Ace before the title comes, but the program announced that day was carried out to the letter.

His other move beats any brawl. He is the one who slips into the control room of the Gates of Justice and hypnotizes the Marines manning it so the gates open for every warship: that is how the crew sails into Impel Down, and how it comes back out at Marineford. He tells Sengoku so himself, in the middle of the war.

The rest stays deliberately vague. He has eaten a Devil Fruit that was never given a name, the only such case among the ten Titanic Captains; wings come out of him and he flies; and nothing establishes whether that power and the hypnosis are the same thing. He is the crew's navigator, and he has never once been shown carrying a Log Pose.
