Doc Q’s Bounty at 72 million Berries

Blackbeard turned down Jewelry Bonney and her 140,000,000 bounty for being too weak to sail with him. He had already taken on a doctor who collapses the moment nobody holds him up. Doc Q was born with a chronic illness the story never names, coughs blood in the middle of his own sentences, and gets around on a horse every bit as sick as he is.

The 72 million was on him back when the whole crew fit on a raft. What the number bought can be traced: the band hit Drum Island and ran King Wapol out of his own kingdom, and in Mock Town the doctor went from pirate to pirate with a basket of apples he had loaded with an explosive of his own making, killing whoever bit into one. Luffy drew a dud, was told he was a very lucky boy, and the rider moved on.

The rest showed up later. At Marineford he charges a dying Whitebeard on horseback and opens him up with a double-bladed scythe swung one-handed. At Impel Down he holds out under Magellan's venom long enough for Shiryu's antidote to reach him, which with that body may be the greater feat of the two. And Stronger, the horse, is hiding a Mythical Zoan: the Uma Uma no Mi, Model Pegasus, wings enough to lift both the doctor and Blackbeard himself, whose weight nearly crushes him.

The power to hand out sickness only surfaces after the timeskip: the Shiku Shiku no Mi turns every man in Law's crew into a woman until Haki burns the disease off. Doc Q now captains the ninth ship of an Emperor's fleet, and what that man is worth has never been put in figures. 72 million is the last number the story has shown for him.
