She was still a young child when this first amount came down, and the series never gives her exact age: only that it arrived quickly, at the very start of her career. For scale, Nico Robin was priced at 79 million at eight, with a Buster Call behind her and a knowledge the World Government feared.

Linlin was exiled from her homeland at five, already too large and too destructive for her parents to keep. They left her on a shore of Elbaph hoping Mother Carmel, who took in children of any race at the Sheep's House, would pick her up, and told her they would come back for her. She waited a long time before Carmel found her.

The giants' hatred dates from that year, not from anything she later did as a pirate. The Winter Solstice Festival called for twelve days of fasting; on the seventh she broke and tore through the village looking for pastry. The warrior Jorul judged it heresy and attacked her: she snapped his sword in her bare hands, took him by the beard and threw him to the ground, and he died of the injury. The sixth birthday, the tea party and the disappearance of Carmel and every child in the house during the meal all come afterwards, on a different island.

So the amount is not obscure. Somehow holding Carmel's own Soru Soru no Mi, she went to sea with Streusen and started flattening villages for sweets. The World Government knew exactly who it was dealing with: after the display on Elbaph, Carmel, who trafficked children, had opened negotiations to sell her — an admiral for the Marines, or for Cipher Pol the finest shield the Celestial Dragons could ask for — and a masked agent had agreed to the price. It had settled on buying her before it settled on pricing her head.
