Her fifty million was multiplied by ten while she was still young; the series does not say at what age, nor whether this figure was already on her head the day Rocks D. Xebec recruited her. The rise reflects a change of method rather than of scale: she stopped raiding islands and started taking them, offering the inhabitants a choice between joining her country and dying.

At twenty-four she and her cook Streusen were Rocks Pirates. She met a fifteen-year-old Kaido there, an apprentice to the crew and a stand-in little brother, and heard her captain announce that he would take them all to the ends of the world and bring down the World Government.

God Valley was not a conquest: the crew landed because Shakuyaku had been abducted and put up as the grand prize of a hunt staged by the World Nobles. Linlin came for the Devil Fruits on offer, which she intended for her children. She threw her two elite homies at Monkey D. Garp — Zeus the thundercloud and Prometheus the small sun, both cut from fragments of her own soul — and he walked out of the fire practically unmarked. She tore the Uo Uo no Mi away from Emporio Ivankov, and Kaido struck her from behind and swallowed it in mid-air; a lifelong debt, she declared, just before he told her he was leaving to build a crew of his own.

The crew did not outlive the day. What history kept of it is Garp and Roger; Imu's part in it never came out, and the island itself was sunk and then struck off every map. Linlin did not slow down: five years later she was one of the few former Rocks Pirates whose infamy and influence kept growing wildly without him, and at thirty-five she was building a crew of her own again.
