CONFIDENTIAL

Four X-shaped scars across the face, two more on the neck, a left eye without a pupil — Doberman's own body carries most of the biography readers had of him before Egghead. A vice admiral with no Devil Fruit, he preaches a doctrine he never softens, Absolute Justice, and teaches it mid-operation: summoned to Enies Lobby by mistake, alongside four other vice admirals, after an unauthorized Buster Call, he takes the time to lecture his subordinates on Rob Lucci's past, whom he regards as an assassin without equal — a full lesson delivered in the middle of an administrative trap.

That loyalty to the chain of command has a cost, revealed much later. After Vegapunk's broadcast from Egghead goes out to the entire world, Doberman is the one who dares ask Fleet Admiral Jaygarcia Saturn, out loud, the question nobody else voices: is the message real? The answer doesn't come in words — Saturn wounds him badly instead. Two decades of doctrine applied to the letter, and the one time questioning an official truth actually costs him something.

Cross Guild rates him at five stars, five hundred million berries by its scale — the same figure as Momonga and Yamakaji, his companions in misfortune from that same day at Enies Lobby. Three careers the number cannot tell apart, except for the one detail that only one of the three ever said out loud.
