A Devil Fruit that grows entire forests out of barren rock in seconds sounds like a fruit for giving life. Ryokugyu — his birth name, Aramaki, wasn't given to readers until years after his debut — uses the Mori Mori no Mi for the opposite purpose: his wooden roots drive into an opponent's body and drain the water out of it until nothing is left but dehydration. A nurturing Logia turned into a siege weapon.

His doctrine has a name he uses himself: Determined Justice. Unlike admirals who visibly wrestle with what they're ordered to do, Ryokugyu feels no friction between command and action. An anecdote Oda himself has confirmed claims he can go years without eating, drawing sustenance from a form of photosynthesis unique to his fruit — a strength that feeds on itself rather than on the world around it.

During the Egghead incident, that patience gets a precise target. The World Government sends him to Sphinx, Whitebeard's home island, after Edward Weevil — the self-proclaimed son of the dead Emperor — repels the first wave of Marine reinforcements sent to subdue him. Ryokugyu is the one who closes that file: he is the admiral who takes Weevil down, on the very island where Weevil was born.

Cross Guild rates him at three crowns, worth three billion berries under the organization's own scale — the exact ceiling reserved for sitting admirals, a number that grades rank rather than the man. Nobody involved seems bothered by the irony: a pirate organization is quietly compiling, crown by crown, a full roster of the command structure it claims to be fighting in the name of a justice it defines no more precisely than he does.
