Cross Guild's notice on Koby carries five stars, five hundred million berries under the organization's own scale, a striking number for a man who, across his entire known career, has never once killed a pirate. Koby started out as a terrified cabin boy held captive aboard Alvida's ship before joining the Marine alongside Luffy himself and rising all the way to the rank of captain within the secret SWORD unit. During the two-year timeskip, he trained directly under Garp alongside Helmeppo, the very officer who once called him a coward back in Shells Town. His most documented moment isn't a military victory at all: in the middle of the Battle of Marineford, he stood up and publicly denounced the absurdity of the war between pirates and the Marine, and Admiral Sakazuki nearly executed him on the spot with a fist of magma for that single speech alone. Only Monkey D. Garp's intervention, catching the blow himself at the last second, kept him alive that day.
