Behind the bounty
500 million: in Wano, Usopp caught up with the bounty Luffy carried out of Dressrosa. Doflamingo had in fact already put that figure on his head, in his own way: in the Birdcage game on Dressrosa, he set aside a special five-star prize for God Usopp, at 100 million a star. The official poster still prints the title, God Usopp, handed to him by the gladiators he had freed.
In Wano the sniper did a bit of everything. Merchant and messenger for Kin'emon while the raid was being prepared; on the Brachio Tank V's cannon with Chopper against Big Mom; on the run with Nami from Ulti and Page One, neither of whom he beat. His heaviest blow landed elsewhere: he captured Bao Huang, the voice of Onigashima, and had her broadcast Tama's announcement, which turned the battle. He also talked Kin'emon and Kiku out of seppuku before handing them over to Chopper.
The increase, 300 million, is identical to the ones given to Nami, Franky and Brook, and the series never breaks it down. His reaction, on the other hand, is pure Usopp: when Robin read the crew's new bounties aloud, he panicked and begged his to stop climbing.
There is a coherence to all of this. Sogeking at Enies Lobby, Usoland among the Tontatta, God Usopp at the Colosseum: a man whose main weapon is staging has ended up priced, at least in part, on what people thought they saw. In a way, he and the Marines speak the same language.
Usopp left Syrup Village to become a brave warrior of the sea, like his father Yasopp, sniper of the Red Hair Pirates. On paper, the son is now worth more than Franky, Brook or Nami.
