CONFIDENTIAL

One color is all Marianne needs to turn an opponent against his own allies. Under the alias Miss Goldenweek, Baroque Works' Flag-Bearer of Freedom paints tints onto her victims that alter their behavior — the Color Trap. There's an irony to that title for an agent whose entire job description is confiscating, even for a few minutes, her target's freedom to act on their own.

It's with that paint that she pins Luffy in place while Vivi, Nami and Zoro get captured by Mr. 3, a trap that needs no fight and no physical strength, just a brush and the right moment.

The trap turns on her, though. Usopp, staying out of reach, throws a mix of contradictory paints in her face; unable to obey opposing orders at once, Marianne's mind buckles into full mental collapse. She then spends most of the Little Garden episode asleep inside a wax structure, while Mr. 3 hands Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine the job of eliminating the giants Dorry and Brogy — a task she's explicitly left out of, having no offensive role in the plan.

After Baroque Works collapses, Marianne simply goes back to painting, working alongside Mr. 3 behind the counter of the new Spider's Café. The power that once made her a quiet weapon left no administrative trace beyond a 29 million bounty that's never been revised since Alabasta — the one line in her file that no fresh coat of paint has ever touched.
