Gladius’s WANTED poster with a reward of 31 million Berries.

An officer of the Pica Army with two thousand men under him, Gladius ate the Pamu Pamu no Mi: he can swell and burst his own body without harm to himself, and any inorganic object he touches, as long as he keeps hold of it until it ruptures. A mechanism in his arms fires exploding rounds, and he was the one who taught Law firearms when the boy joined the Family; Gladius was seventeen at the time.
No scene dates his 31,000,000 berries. What the story shows of his past is the crew looting its way toward the Grand Line, then the storming of the Dressrosa palace ten years before Luffy arrived, once Monet opened its gates to the officers.
What comes later shows how much a man at that price can do, and it is a lot. A Gear 2 Jet Stamp from Luffy leaves no mark on him. On the royal plateau he holds off Cavendish, worth 280,000,000, and Bartolomeo, then at 150,000,000, at the same time: he bursts the ground with no regard for his own troops, fires poisoned needles hidden in his hair, then inflates his whole body and threatens to shower Robin and Cavendish with them. Bartolomeo seals them both inside a barrier and goes for his throat; the blast leaves Bartolomeo badly hurt, while Gladius, stabbed only in the shoulder, sets the plateau erupting again. It takes Cavendish dodging on Hakuba, then a barrier-coated punch from Bartolomeo, to knock him out.
Earlier, inside the palace, he had taken Kin'emon for his captain, the samurai's own Devil Fruit having disguised him as Doflamingo, and freely passed on news of Kanjuro, the man Kin'emon had come looking for. He was arrested with the other officers after Doflamingo's fall.
