Sarquiss’s Bounty at 38,000,000 Berries

Bellamy is the only captain Sarquiss has ever served. Doflamingo is nothing more to him than a name on a flag lent out at Jaya, long before Dressrosa — a permission slip, not an oath. Sarquiss fights with an oversized kukri, a blade wide enough to earn him the nickname Big-Knife inside his own crew, long before anyone had heard of the Donquixote Family.

That exact distance is what makes the scene at Dressrosa so ugly. When Bellamy dishonors that borrowed flag by attacking the Straw Hats without permission, Doflamingo does not punish his own subordinate for it. He orders Sarquiss to deliver the finishing blow to his own captain, in front of witnesses, as a lesson in what a lent-out flag costs.

Bellamy survives. Sarquiss remains the man who raised a blade against someone he had served for years, on an order that came from somewhere else entirely — and the record says nothing about what happened to him after that scene. Even earlier, he had already crossed paths with Blackbeard, who headbutted him flat into the ground over a badly timed provocation, without Teach ever needing to throw a punch.

Thirty-eight million berries for a man whose name appears on no official Donquixote Family roster — only in the record of a smaller crew, on the day his own boss was punished by someone else, using Sarquiss's own arm to do it.
