Charlotte Mont-d'Or’s Bounty at 120 million Berries

Big Mom's collection of rare beasts lives inside Mont-d'Or's picture books, shelved in a library within the Whole Cake Chateau, while ordinary prisoners go one floor down to the Prisoner Library. That is the work the Buku Buku no Mi is for. He floats books around him and files people into them: an open book held over a target drops them into the scene printed on the page, and oversized nails pin them there. Pinned that way, nobody ages. Burning the binding sets them free, though the fire may take the prisoner along with it.

Luffy and Nami both ended up down there, after he sank Luffy into a book's scenery long enough for his siblings to put him on the floor. The epithet that travels with him, Scribe, is not a brawler's. Nineteenth son of the Charlotte family, Minister of Cheese over the island of the same name, he chairs the meetings, gives orders to several Totto Land islands at once, the fruit doubling as a switchboard with a row of Den Den Mushi wired into one book, and he builds the blockade meant to keep the Straw Hats inside, swearing that Gol D. Roger himself would not slip through it. Germa's princes Niji and Yonji know him on sight as a Big Mom heavyweight.

At 120 million he sits a long way under the 300 million his brothers Daifuku and Oven carry. One reading is that the figure matches the work: neutralizing without hitting, an object for a weapon and a library for a battlefield.

What he defends hardest is not territory but the crew's name. He set men on Stussy and the newspaperman Morgans so that Totto Land's humiliation would not leave Totto Land, and told Morgans to cover the Straw Hats' execution instead, a brutality Stussy remarked on at once.
