CONFIDENTIAL

Two swords, red flower petals scattering with every strike: that's the image behind Vista's nickname, Flower Sword, commander of the Whitebeard Pirates' fifth division. He didn't earn that name through a massacre or a capture, but through a fighting style recognizable on sight, on a battlefield where almost no one else fought with anything close to his elegance.

At Marineford, that style meets its most meaningful test: Dracule Mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman. The duel ends without a winner, more for lack of time than lack of skill — Vista walks away unhurt and says outright that he's satisfied just to have crossed blades with him once. Few men can claim a duel like that without having lost it outright. Mihawk's own listed bounty stands at 3,590,000,000 berries today; the registry has never given an equivalent figure to the one man who fought him to a draw on that battlefield.

Since that war, the silence around Vista has been total. No scene places him at the Reverie, none places him anywhere else at all — his name simply drops out of the story after Marineford, with no death ever reported and no retirement ever explained on the page. The World Government presumably knows exactly where he is and what he's worth; the reader has heard nothing since the war ended. A narrative gap as clean as the edge of either of his two blades.
