The rest she hides from everyone, and from her own people first. The Kuja are no more entitled to see the brand than the Navy is. With her sisters she put a story into circulation at home about a Gorgon whose gaze turns flesh to stone, which conveniently accounts both for what the three of them carry on their backs and for what they carry in their bodies. Any Kuja who saw the truth would be petrified on the spot. She feared exile, and feared far more that the Celestial Dragons would come looking for her again.
